Finally got around to watch the show I recorded a while ago. Ranked the top ten combat rifles with a small bit of info on each. Figured I'd share.

    They were all rated by:
    Innovation
    Handling
    Combat effectiveness
    Accuracy
    Service length

    10- M14
    9- sturmgewher 44
    8- 1903 Springfield
    7- Steyr aug
    6- Mauser 98k carbine
    5- FN FAL
    4- M1 Garand
    3- Lee Enfield SMLE
    2- M16

And number 1. The Kalashnikov of course.

  2. Well at least I've got one of those top ten in my safe. Even better it's #1 on the list! :)

    I have #1 & #2, and i mean from the list :D

I would LOVE to have a #9 but there are only so many left, and the ones you do see for sale are outrageously priced, but for good reason.

I think the only shot I would have would be to get that 22LR version in the crate...

I used to have #5 but had to get rid of it before moving to Kaliforniastan. I want another one.

I was shooting surplus Malaysian 7.62 NATO out of it and was probably getting about 2 or 4-inch groups at 100 yards with the iron sights. This was about 10 years ago, and that is my best recollection. The thing to keep in mind is that it was a Century Arms version, and it looked pretty rough inside. It looked cobbled together from parts kits. At the time, I also used to practice almost exclusively with my pistols, to the detriment of my rifle practice, and I probably could have tightened the groups if I still had the rifle, today.

I specifically want a DSA FAL. Being manufactured from all new parts on modern machinery, they probably shoot better than the CIA model I had.

    Very cool...

  20. There will be centerfire version of #9 out soon(like in a few months). It will be US made. It will also be cheaper and more durable than those new one brought in from Germany a few years ago.
