Recently I was told that my bring home some ammo purchased in SC through GA to FL was against some law. I never heard of this. Anyone know anything about this?

How much ammo are we talking about?
The only law I am aware of is in regards to transportation law that says the vehicle must be placarded if carrying explosives. If you had several hundred of thousands of rounds they could probably hit you for that. :)

Are we talking commercial quantities as for resale?
Or just a truckload for 'personal' use?

  4. I'm putting it down as an Inet rumor.

Less than a few thousand total rounds

  6. The Firearm Owners Protection Act allows you to transport the ammo.

What you were told is incorrect.
