A few weeks back I was asked, I think on this forum - I can't find the post, how many 223 cases I could clean in the Harbor Freight drum tumbler. The average came out to 71 cases. I have the dual drum machine, so 142 at a time.

I never count the cases, just fill the drum about 1/2 full, top with Lyman walnut shell media to about 1/4 inch of the top of the drum. You could go lizard bedding with car polish, but the Lyman already has jewlers rouge incorporated and costs about $16. Lasts a long time.

Looks good! No need to de-prime before tumbling?

Deprime before tumbling is fine if you use the correct size media. 20/40 grit.

Most of the time I do, but a lot of these are military cases and the primer pockets will need to be swaged anyway. I decided to handle the primer pockets separately. Tumbling will clean the pockets though!
