I have a buddy that recently got the Beretta APX A1 Carry. It's a 6+1 single stack, same size as a 10-12 round Sig P365 in all three dimensions (actually slightly larger but the same width)....but with a rebate, it cost him $235. He has the full size APX, he's a Beretta fan, so this made sense to him.

I was thinking, what about replacing my pocket .380's, it's a decent price, and Beretta makes a good gun...but the size is still too big for real pants pocket carry.

How old is the APX A1? Will it stand the test of time? I like the idea of 10 to12 .380 over 7 9's.

Test of time? It's a Beretta, they're older than any US maker out there, and they make solid guns.

But yeah, the capacity is a no go for me in that size gun.

The APX was 2016, the compact came out in 2018, and the single stack A1 in May 2022.

Realistically, the full size APX probably would have won the M17 contract, except Sig had ammo, ridiculous varieties of "modularity", and the brass wanted to diversify away from Beretta after the M9.

I was looking at the LC9. Not too sure about that. Might be a turd. They don't make them anymore.

When this whole " micro 9" craze started the two guns everyone around me were buying were the Glock 43 and the Sig 365. I got to try them both through buddies that had bought them. I'm in the communist state of New York so high capacity was out of the question. I went to a gun show and picked up a Mossberg Mc1 and loved it. Hi Vis night sites, nice trigger ( for a striker fire) , and even with my big mitts it felt better in my hand than the other two. I can stick the gun in my front zip pocket on my Vertex pants and it's invisible. Guys at the range were blown away by how accurate it is. I haven't tried the Taurus but I hear they're pretty nice too for an inexpensive pocket gun

I'm carrying a Taurus G2 right now b/c the Glock 26 is in the shop for repairs. Only complaint I have other than the mile long trigger pull is the finger rest floorplate on the mag - it's easily replaceable, but doesn't come w/ a flat floorplate in the box, so it's nearly a half-inch longer butt than it needs to be. It's noticeably thinner than the 26.

Do you have a NY carry permit? Is there anyplace left you can carry now, or just have to leave it inside your car anywhere you go?

Yes I do and most places outside NYC and government buildings. There's a bunch of back and forth going on legally right now. Most sheriff's realize Hoechul and her crap are BS.

I was carrying a Kahr Arms .45CW for a while and I really liked it except the mile long trigger pull. Apparently that is their idea of a safety. The reset was the same as the initial pull. I decided I wanted something with a more responsive trigger. Also the recoil rod was getting eaten up. I wound up putting a stainless one in before I sold it.

That's how the Sig DAK trigger works. Some people hate it, some people love it. Same pull every time, some think that's better than a DA/SA trigger, some don't.
But in practice...it was very easy to use and very accurate, and people that got past their paradigm and got used to it had no issues.
