Oh yeah, car accidents all over yesterday. Today everything is closed so not as many. Most everything will also be closed tomorrow. I do have to venture out for a few things but I have AWD so not so bad.
AWD works great for me. In deep snow I can switch to 4WD on my Hyundai SUV. And I don't have snow tires even. Slow speed in this type of weather if you have to go out is
what we do.
People in Dallas can't drive when the sun is shining, and the roads are dry. I was there during the Super Bowl in 2011. I was in Lancaster. Pulled an empty trailer to Paris and got a load at Campbells. I got out East 15mi and it was dry. I had to come back that way on my way to Associated Grocers in Houston. Got empty that night. Parked back in the staging lot for the night. Woke up to a skating rink. Houston was a mess.

Freezing mist and fog again all day. The big flakes have begun to fall. The weather people can't make up their mind what is going on.

Calling for power lines to go down tonight. Looks like another day off work. I'm not putting my car and license on the line.

Both the cars are away from the huge maples in the front yard. We'll hear some creaking and crack now that the wind from the Southwest is picking up. 14 for a high tomorrow. I need to stay home and make sure the pipes don't freeze.
We've been in the upper 70s all day, but there's been a good bit of wind. The AC has been kicking on more than ot has in a while.

It's a big change from what we had a couple weeks ago. It was down in the 50s during a couple days and in the 40s at night. We had to run the heater a couple of times.

Yep. And most of them are the damn transplants trying to turn the state purple.

I was thinking the morbidly obese women in SUV's that never look up from their phones.

Now that I do not believe. 30 years ago people there drove far to fast for conditions. Especially icy roads.

Currently 15°F in Houston, Texas, at 2:20 AM CST.

Will probably lose a couple of more degrees before sunrise at 7:00 AM today.

The dangerous conditions are the drivers. Lol

Just a normal day here. Schools wouldn't even cancel.
Ohio wussed out. :(

Peace favor your sword (mobile)
Ohio wussed out.
When I was in grade school in the metro Boston area, there was one town -Reading- that almost never called off school. Rumor was the school superintendent hailed from Maine. More than once the "no school" announcements over the local radio station went "All schools closed today, except Reading".

Locally, the Dayton "Metro Area" schools are all closed and they even closed WPAFB. I thought that was silly. I get closing stuff last night while it was coming down. They closed all of the local YMCA branches down early (6PM) for the snow. That was the right decision. But they had all night to catch up on treating the roads. SWMBO harassed me into taking a sick day because "the Base is closed so it's currently too dangerous for you to go in to the Base to work." Oh well. I've got more than a week of Sick time anyhow. Still felt "wrong." I hate taking Sick time. Don't like taking Vacay either unless I'm actually going somewhere on, well, vacation. I used to work with a gent who would take an occasional "Mental Health Day," burning some of his Sick but I never liked doing that.

Anyway, Ohio wussed out and closed everything. You'd think we're not on the Lakes or something. What are we, Arkansas? :p

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk
.... Y'all having a good time?

Ice. Then sleet. Then more freezing rain and ice. After that, a little sleet. Then, just to change it up, freezing rain mixed with sleet. Right now, snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain - and a 30 mph wind, just for fun.

Sounds like the classic New England "wintery mix". I miss snow and cold weather, but freezing rain and ice, not so much.

Unless its a full on blizzard. We go out every day for coffee and a drive. Thats zero visibility not just snow for you southern folk.
I saw a twitter post yesterday with a picture labeled "Blizzard" and it was barely a snow flurry LOL When you have to stick your head out the car window to watch the center line as it sometimes appears from under the snow you are in a blizzard... can't see past the end of the hood a blizzard...

Snow is OK, especially now. Don't have to go out in it. Cold sucks. Period. Love to visit Moonz sometime, but not in winter!! Subzero bite bad! Ice is the worst, though
