Four days ago, most computer models had Nicole looping along the coast or out to the Atlantic. Just two models had the storm going inland. So, I'd planned to drive inland on my return from New England to Florida.

5:30 AM yesterday, I decided to take my chances and ran the I-95 gauntlet (NYC-Baltimore-DC). As expected, traffic sucked between Baltimore and Richmond; lots of stall and crawl. But the weather was clear until I got halfway into S Carolina and through Georgia. Sure, there were some showers, some lightning, and wind gusts, but I've driven thru far, far worse. Turns out the storm went into the panhandle and inland. Computer models or not, weather forecasts remain a best guess.

Inordinately cold here in North Alabama for this time of the year. Been a hard frost on the ground every morning for about the past week. Seems like we may be headed for a cold Winter here.
Winters are always cold here. Thins the herd so the weak leave.
