Hey there.

I don't get much time these days to log onto the net for anything other than emails and other work-related drivel before chaos erupts, but I figured I would chime in and let you guys know what's going on.

I've taken a sabbatical from theater production until further notice, which seems to work out in perfect timing because the University just cut my hours after finding out how severe my illness is. Bastards. But, in the age of liability lawsuits there's little I can do on that front. Besides, I'm one of the few left who has NOT been laid off and replaced by a grad student, so I'm very lucky in that respect.

Otherwise, I'm working about 65 hours/week to pay for medical issues, since most hospitals now will not see a patient who is uninsured without proof of financial ability. This means quite a few things, but slowly details are getting worked out. I'll be honest: There have been some complications, but in the end they may actually HELP with overall treatment (odd to hear, and I'd rather not get into the details....but let's just say things are making room for themselves in their own way). And, with my work on theatrical productions cut down, it's allowed me to help out (mentally of course, since I'm on again/off again with an acursed "stick" to walk with....and I mean a cane, not "that" kind of stick...perverts) with interest groups involved with healthcare reform. I won't go into what their interests are, since this is not the place for it, but speaking as someone who is in the middle of it all and uninsured, it's helped make me feel a bit more proactive and useful. Granted I know that financially I am destroyed with the costs involved, my hope is that in the end of all this others won't be put in the same position I am.

Also, I want to extend a HUGE thanks to those who contributed to the "fund" from months earlier. It may not seem like much, but the direct application of the cash went to getting something that, without, I would be unable to just about do ANYTHING:

It's not my first choice by ANY means...but it's a complete and running '97 Cavalier...for $600 !!! Even came with brand new tires and a perfect interior, and full power everything that WORKS! Granted the A/C is out, the cooling fan is "special" and it needed a new front wheel bearing, but all of that is minor.

The Vespa on the other hand...well...for those of you from the old forum and who have been around a while, you know how much I cherrish that GTS250. Well, by a miracle I still have it (the loan company didn't repo it) and I'm slowly getting caught up on the payments. The engine is totaled, and the warranty company is just ignoring my phonecalls, so I'm in talks with the shop to find a used low mileage motor from either Canada or the UK to throw in it to get it going again. It will still cost $1500 to $2500, but that's a far sight less than the $4,000 quote I got from the other shop which we will not mention.

As for guns...well... they went the wayside of bills that could not be avoided if I literally wanted to live, but the hope is that by the end of this month I can get caught up again to put a shotgun and a C9 on layaway again. Again, depends on if I can get the treatment thing going in full speed by the same time next month.

So, in short: I'm still alive, but it's coming down to the wire. I hope to have enough cash to at least get them started on a surgical option. After that we can take things one step at a time as far as chemo, but the surgical effort will make things ten times easier.

Thank you ALL for the support. I know I haven't been as forthcoming with the responses, but I don't always have email access and occasionally I do not get online for days at a time depending on how I feel. But, as I said before, I shall always try to at least keep an update going.

Thank you.  The thoughts are very welcomed.  The ability to get the car has been a true blessing (again, something that without the help of the generous souls on here I would've been unable to do), considering my motorbike is dead while I still have to make payments.  Even if it were running, I cannot ride in the shape I'm in now.  So 4 wheels and a slushbox transmission in an American-made car may not be ideal, but it's fitting it's duties very well!  I detest not being able to fix the A/C and cooling fan considering some constraints on physically getting things done but Che (that's what the car's been named by stage crew at my last show: A liberator for a Socialist :D I thought it was funny.... and it stuck) has literally been just what the doctor ordered.

Granted I still miss shooting something fierce.  Was going over old vids from some of our HPFF shoots and really miss the smell and the sound.  But, soon I hope....
