into submission. from ATIs website:

"For immediate release,

We are very pleased to report that the litigation filed by Heckler & Koch, Inc. against German Sport Guns GmbH and its U.S. distributor, American Tactical Imports, Inc., together with all counterclaims, has been settled.

The terms of the settlement are confidential to the parties and cannot be disclosed. A dismissal of the above-referenced litigation, and all of the party’s claims against each other, is expected to be filed in the near future.

Attorneys for H&K will be issuing a statement. The attorneys for ATI have already issued a statement announcing the settlement.

Production and importation of the original design GSG-5 ceased as of Oct, 8, 2009 with the signing of the agreement. The remaining inventory now in the USA can be sold by ATI, all distributors and dealers. ATI currently has GSG-5’s in stock.

All sales of the GSG-5 by ATI must conclude by January 31, 2010. ATI will continue to service every firearm that it imports into the USA.

Thank you for your support.
Anthony DiChario

What was the beef HK has with ATI and the GSG-5?

Edit: Nevermind. I got the gist of it off the AR15.com forum.

This is not just the GSG-5 that's at stake! it's every weapon that looks like an HK! what's next? they are gonna sue polymer based pistols for resembling USPs? F*CK HK! I was going to get a USP sometime but NOT ANYMORE!
I'm not taking sides and hate to say it, and I know most of you know this already...but nice guys finish last or are vaporized in the business world. But, in the end...what comes around goes around. Word does get out.
Wow, way to be a douche H&K! What a bunch of bullcrap. H&K, you fail.

I was able to dig through the tubes and find this picture of H&K's CEO shortly after the release of the GSG-5.

great as if the gsg's weren't expensive enough. now this is really going to cause inflation in the price.
That's ok, I could never afford an HK anyways, and now I know why they cost so much: Look at how many lawyers they're feeding!!!

Talk about jerks. Did they REALLY think the GSG-5 was that much of a threat to their SMG of a DIFFERENT CALIBER not available to the mass public in the US in most states? Are they going to sue every Chinese Airsoft company now too? Or how about every video game that has an icon that looks like an HK weapon? Or comic books too....I saw a few HK's in the latest "Hellboy" comic..better get 'em boys!

Douches.
This is just beyond retarded.
So yeah.........HK lost some major cool points for that move.

:cantlook:

HK has filed close to 30 lawsuits agaisnt everybody from airsoft to t shirt companies for trade dress infringment.

Theyre way too expensive for my taste, even if I had the money I wouldnt get one. A total dick move, but is it really suprising from arseholes like them?
This has pretty much cemented my opinion that I will never waste my money supporting these d-bags.
This blows, I just ordered a at the end of last month, and since my FFL hasn't contacted me yet that it's in, might not get it. Wil mags be available, or are they going to be discontinued as well?
I doubt they will continue making the mags since they "look like MP5 mags" H&K might throw another hissy fit and file another lawsuit. Probably all manufacturing of GSG related items will stop.
Well not that I'd ever buy an H&K to begin with but now I'm more solidified against them. Sides if I wanted overpriced eurotrash iron I'd buy a sig, personally I'll stick with my "unrefined, clunker" rugers, hi points, and the occasional Smith and Wesson. Least their made in the US of A. All I gota say is FUCK YOU H&K.
New HKs are overpriced, but you can still find deals on the G3 kits. $85 flats for a DIY receiver, $2-3 magazines. HK doesn't make a penny off the deal. Back in the day, kits were $100 and you could part them out for twice that much. I bought several, kept the best parts and sold the rest, wound up with 2 G3 clones essentially for free. A couple 50-packs of Tapco's $1 steel mags has me set for for a while. Now all I need is more of that $89 Australian surplus .308........
 H&K SUCKS!!!!! Got to give props to Mr. Kalashnikov though for giving ATI the thumbs up on their AK22. Oh, and by the way Kalashnikov's PP-19-1 Vityaz is better SMG then the Mp5 as well.
Without wasting a whole lot of time looking into the details of the actual case I can say that yeah it sucks that HK is running the "little guy" out of business with this whole thing. And if HK's whole basis for the litigation is the fact that the GSG series "look like" the MP5 cousins that is ridiculous. However what is even more ridiculous is that there is a legal system either there or here that allows this kind of lawsuit based on something "looking like" something else. Personally I am a little torn on the issue because had I been the person that comes up with an idea yes I would be pretty pissed if someone copies my original idea. However when it comes to the realm of function vs form.. Its a fine line to walk because something resembling something else doesn't seem like a very good basis for legal action.

It sucks but this type of litigation is a direct result of our over lawyered world where everyone can sue everyone for almost any reason sad thing is that its not likely to get better any time soon.

I really don't have any opinion on HK at all as I've never owned or fired any of their firearms. but I really don't think HK is really the "bad guy" here I think the laws allowing this kind of crap are where the anger needs to be focused.
