So what brought you to this forum? Whether you've been here for a short time or years, something brought all of us to this little dysfunctional corner of the internet.

For me, I'd been lurking for quite a while. I finally got a C9 and joined. The people just seemed right, like the kind of guys I'd actually hang out with outside work if they were in my same area.

I became a supporting member shortly thereafter because I would search for things and it seemed all of the good stuff was in the Dark Rooms. Boy did that turn out to be true!

I'm what some would consider a Prepper. My wife and I have been stockpiling for 10 years. Not the level I want to be, and she buries stuff by buying too much sometimes, so I'm working on a plan to be able to auto-rotate supplies and not have things go bad. THAT is the worst.

The forums have a lot of SHTF and TEOTWAWKI and survival and such, and I've learned a great deal of information from you chuckleheads. I have a deep-seated mistrust of the government (and for good personal reasons, too!) and like liberty-minded folks who don't take guff from anyone. There is a LOT of that here.

I also joined for the other gun knowledge other than just Hi-Point. Kirk and his cleaning guide (which I've never gotten) seemed to be typical of the kind of people here. Some of them have gone in the past couple of years, but any site has that.

Plus this is a GREAT place to unload when my mother-in-law goes apesh!t and I need a bunch of people with common sense to unload to. Then this place grew on me and here I am!

AND this is a great place to use an alternate and fairly cutting sense of humor. Personally I like a little bit of being caustic and people cutting ZERO slack for anything, especially things like getting sick, or other things completely out of one's control. I get along with types like cicpup and Rach and Bull - those are the type of friends I have in person.

What is YOUR story on why you joined (and stay)?

I bought a 995 carbine and learned a lot about it here, so I joined and stayed around.

I bought my first gun in a pawnshop.
Only gun I could afford at the time....a JHP .45
Learned of the HiPoint brand during a gun show but at that time didn't have the money to buy.
Went online to learn about it and joined this forum.

I came here when I bought my first pistol, a C9. I've learned an absolute ton about firearms being here, and it's only fed my new found love of firearm history, knowledge, and collecting.

Having always been a hunter, trapper, etc. this only fueled the fire! Great guys, great conversation, and an endless supply of characters to meet!

I bought my JCP, and went searching for a forum. I first found the other site, but it's too slow. Continued my search and found this site. I like it here because it's busy. There is a conversation going on pretty much all the time, and I have a lot of it. The political rants get to me now and then, but for the most part it's a lot of fun! It's the most active forum I've seen.

Besides, about 80% here own other guns too so a ton of knowledge on everything.
Many different backgrounds too so we've had people helped from installing wood burners to fixing cars.

I do like all the alternate and alternative knowledge. I have had this thread up for all of 10 minutes and already 6 replies. This one looks like it's going to be a good thread!

Got bored one day and decided to spend it searching out and joining forums for every firearm I owned. Turns out this was the only one that wasn't full of elitist douche bags. So I moved in.

Crap, I had a great post going and I deleted it by accident. Damn at times I am a moron.

Ok, back when I was 50 year old full time college student working a full time CO-OP job at half of what I made before I was laid off I wanted an inexpensive 45 ACP carbine so I could use all the 45 ammo I inherited when my dad passed away.

I promised my wife I would do what I could to keep from using the savings so I sold off all my guns with the exception of my Ruger MKII. Now you all get to cry. It took me almost two years to find the CO-OP job while I was in school so I spent some time at gun shows and sold the following:

    HK 91
    CAR-15A2
    M1917 Enfield
    Browning A5
    XD 40
    2 M1 Garands
    Chinese SKS
    Ruger 10/22
    Savage 24D 22/410
    Dan Wesson 357
    Dan Wesson 44 Pistol Pac
    S&W 3000 Police 12 Ga
Colt Series 70 Gold Cup Match
    Ruger 375 H&H Tropical No. 1
    Ruger M77 300 Win Mag
    German K98

We lived for a year on the money from the gun sales so I am sorry I had to let them go but it is what I had to do to get by. They also paid for my textbooks so I did good on the prices.

As I stated earlier I wanted an inexpensive 45 carbine and the only thing the fit the bill was the 4595. All I had ever heard about Hi Points is that they were crap, but I researched it and one of the sites I found was this one. I lurked around and found a wealth of information and most of the posters seemed to be very knowledgeable and honest about the Hi Points. Well I found a dealer that had a 4595 and bought it.

After things settled down I decided to become a supporting member to make sure that the asylum stays online. It is a good place to screw around and the vast majority of you are great to interact with, even the moles. :D

I have been to other forums but I spend most of my time on this one as you all are a great group of guys and gals.

By the way, I am now back up to 4 pistols, 6 rifles, and a shotgun. This will grow by one more rifle and 2 shotguns by the end of the week when I go pick up the last of my dads old guns he wanted me to have.

    Thanks everyone, including the moles.

It could be that 2 yrs and 7 months ago I purchased a used 995 and wanted to learn more about it, yep, that's probably it. Come to think of it, I am on a forum of every firearm I own. That is definitely a clue.

This place is the best. Look at how we fight and the next minute we band together to help each other out. Tall made the year by getting his girl a gun and sharing it with us. All the gifts of love we have passed to each other when needed and a good fight when needed. WW has a way of pissing me of but I would give him my arm if he needed it. Liberty was going to get his ass kicked one night and the next minute he became a brother. SWAGA is really Sara Palin but has a secret life online as a lib tard that is always here for us to keep us honest. Branth is like the little brother. Hel! Rach trusts us so much he posted pic of his OL. That's family. There is way to many to name but if I was Kirk I would list them in some dumb ass way with a graph and a bunch of lines :-D those that don't make the cut leave and the rest stay and join a great family. And we can never forget the greats like Mary and that dirty little mole Underground. Plus we have Talon back ;-)

always wanted a 45, could never afford one. a limited budget and a 45 usually don't go together. did some google-fu and found this place. liked the idea of a pistol and a carbine that shared ammo. found out later about the magazines matching, was a total bonus. been hooked ever since...

I hang out at eight different forums. This is the only one where you won't get beat up because you own a HI-POINT.

Another that is similar is Taurus Armed.

    Hate gun snobs !
