Does it mean that you have resigned your commission or you have been court martialed and given a dishonorable discharge ?
The short version is "involuntarily banned." Be cautioned, the Evil Overlords will disable threads and hand out punishments if anyone tries to discuss details on the forum.

Well I was just wondering if it was different from "banned" because I have seen "banned" used in the past, but never seen "no longer here" used before.

Are bans always permanent or are they for specified time periods ?

There are temp bans and permanent ones. It seems "No longer here" was created just for this. Maybe the powers that be realized what an unpopular move this was going to be in hindsight and that was their version of a bandaid?
At any rate, I suspect this place is going to be full of nothing but crickets in short order.

The language has been changed to be more euphemistic in one of the latest forum software updates.

It can be perma-ban or for a pre-defined time period. I do not know the "terms" of this one. I haven't looked (and I may not have sufficient priv to see).

Meh, I don't know... it's still a good board. I'm not sure any one member has wide reaching enough effect to kill off a board. I'll admit, I miss the days of BBS boards, but I haven't had a home phone, or a compatible modem, for at least 20 years.

I'm not saying mass exodus because of rach being gone, there are several various other members who were very active that are gone now or at least extremely infrequent for a multitude of reasons. This is just a big piece of straw added to the bale.

Hell, a couple might even come back.

The new administrators of this website are the reason these forums are dying in my opinion. I already went over to this forum since this is happening: M14 Forum

You got me Amberloo. I do not know who the new administrators are. But our old administrators do not have complete control of the forums anymore.

Carbon Media exercises complete control over HPFF. They, literally, own the forum.

Any changes in forum design, software, administration, layout, etc., ultimately come from them.

Their Terms of Service are broad and comprehensive. Note this line:
You may not:
Use the Web Site to post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, libelous, flaming, hateful, offensive (whether in relation to sex, race, religion or otherwise), defamatory, obscene, vulgar, harassing, pornographic, profane or indecent information of any kind, including without limitation any transmissions constituting or encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any local, state, provincial, national or international law.

Take note. Anything which could be reasonably construed as "hateful, offensive, [...] vulgar. [or] profane" could get moderated. This includes editing posts, deleting posts, issuing warnings, and up to bans, including perma-bans. Yes, you read that right, should the Moderators or the Outdoor Hub/Carbon Media (Evil Overlords) take a fancy to it, you could be banned for using profanity.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

About 10-11 years ago there was a huge change, and quite a number of people moved to another forum, and now that forum is also dead; I don't particularly remember what exactly happened at that time that caused a lot of old members to exit, eithet voluntarily, or by violating rules and then getting banned. A few times since then, ownership of the HPFF (this forum here) have changed, with new admins and so forth. During one of these changes, the Hi Point company decided to cut official ties with this forum for whatever reasons.

Eh. People come and go. There might be some new people joining that might be good for this forum but I don't know. Forums in general have been dying across the board... most new owners are on Facebook or Reddit, or other social media sites.
