I think this may make for an interesting thread.

What would you buy if you could afford to buy any weapon you wanted, but could only own one in each of the following categories:

1) .22 rifle
2) .22 pistol
3) carbine in 9mm, .40, or .45 cal
4) pistol any caliber
5) shotgun
6) military style field rifle of any caliber
7) military style sniper rifle of any caliber

I am just curious which weapons everyone out there considers the cream of the crop.

Just one weapon total or one of each category.
One weapon total =
Judge 45/410

one of each category=
Ruger 10/22
Ruger 22/45
Hi-Point 9mm
Judge 45/410
Saiga 12 with drum mag
AK47 7.62x39
Barrett 82A1/M107

Of course the list would change depending on "what for".
If it is TEOTWAWKI, Gimme My Ak47 and my Glock.

1) Ruger 10/22 with Bullpup modification
2) Dunno...probably another something in a Ruger or Taurus. Never looked much into .22 pistols
3) Hi-Point 995....OF COURSE
4) I honestly would go with another Taurus Model 66 .375 Mag (in any metal finish..even chrome with the 6" barrel) since I already got a C9
5) Winchester Defender 1300 with a riot barrel
6) Isreali Tavor TAR-21
7) Hmm... never ever thought about this one. I honestly don't know on that. Will get back to you.

22 rifle - Marlin 7000
22 pistol - Ruger 50th Anniversary
carbine - Hi-point 4595 (when available)
pistol - Baretta M9 Operation Enduring Freedom Special Edition (only a thousand made; I can get one here in my home town for $700)
shotty - Browning Anson 12 ga w/ walnut stock (gorgeous)
military field rifle - BAR M1918A2
military sniper - Dragunov SVD

All have been thoroughly thought over. The SVD is the one that I would concider the one I would baby the most. The Browning Anson is a very nice side-by-side for sale at Bass Pro Shops for 8 grand. It is sexy.

1) Ruger 10/22 (already have one)
2) Ruger Red Eagle Automatic (first year inherited from my grandmother)
3) Hi-Point 995 (already have)
4) Ruger P-85 MKII (already have), if you mean pistol or revolver, I'll take the Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull (again, already have)
5) Saiga-12 with the drum
6) Accurized Mini-14 (Not strictly military, but I like the field reliability. And, yes, I already have one)
7) M40A3 SWS

As you can see, I've already got most of what I want. All I need are the Saiga and the M40, although I don't see the Marines just handing one over to me.

1.) 10/22
2.) Walther P22
3.) Either a Kel-Tec or Hi-Point in 9mm
4.) Can't decide between Glock 19/XD-9 or 45
5.) Maybe a Benelli M4
6.) Something from DPMS in .223 or 7.62x39mm
7.) Barrett M95

It's hard to choose just one for each category. :|
