There seem to be a fair bit of us linux fellows around here, and I've seen some Mac guys so I thought I'd check up and see what the spread is here.

Also, if you use more than 1 OS (IE dual boot, etc.) as I do, please select the one you use the most often. Also, please don't include your work PC unless that's the only one you use. I'd like to see personal preference :D

XP Pro on my Photo work station, work computers, Server 2000 on my file server, and Ubuntu on my web surfing and play computers. 3 XP pro, 2 Linux and 1 Server 2000 file server.

I'm thinking about migrating my server to Red Hat Linux.

I use Vista and XP, my new desktop came with Vista Home Premium 64bit and my old laptop has XP.

You need an option for XP Pro.
I didn't add the different SKUs of XP/Vista because for XP there's like 5 or 6 and then for Vista there are approximately 17 billion.

I personally don't care too much for Vista, mostly because of the graphics card related issues we've had at work and trying to do simple things like change an IP address takes way too many clicks. I don't like XP either though. IMO (other than Server 2008) the last good Windows was 2000.

I have 3 xp machines.. two laptops and a desktop with pro, home, and media center, I am waiting until 7 comes out before I "upgrade", I used the beta version and liked it, i had vista business and ultimate editions that I used for a while but went back to xp on my desktop because it used a lot of the system for no reason. I know 7 will be the same way but with my new computer build that is in the process now I wont have any problems. I run an amd x2 5200+ with 4gb of ddr2 800 EVGA 8600 GT. My upgrade will be 4gb of ddr2 1066 with a amd phenom x4 quad core with an evga gtx 200.

Make sure you use the 64 bit version. You will like it better.

With Microsoft I always wait about a year after their O/S is out before I even look at upgrading. So far I just don't see anything in Vista that I need that isn't in XP Pro. Of course I'm not a bleeding edge kind of guy.
