But I haven’t eaten canned stew in 30 years. Too expensive.

I have a big sirloin in my fridge right now, it was $3.48 a lb, it’s going to be a couple of small roasts, a few steaks, some stew meat, and a pile of jerky. I must admit…I don’t think of sirloin as a real steak. But if I grill it up in January after wiping the snow off the grill, it eats just fine.

The boy was proud. We went out to dinner on his dime. Asian Cafe, his choice, and damn was it good. I had Pho Tai and orange beef with steamed rice. He had Pho Tai Nam Gau and gyoza. I haven't had good Pho in years and this place just opened up a few months ago.

He said next is the NY pizzeria, which I will destroy because they claim to be authentic NYC. I suggested the new Indian place and then the new steakhouse, but he's dead set on pizza because he misses what we had in NY.

Spent the evening last night with some friends - the host served fresh baked bread with home cooked mulligan stew, home made mead with a touch of orange flavour and key lime pie for desert.

A nice combination of flavours.

We had a great time!
