My best shot came 2 years ago while walking accoss our corn field toward the ditch bank . This particular time I was carrying my High point c9 that tags along with me when I walk through the deep brush .. On the way out I spoted a large ground hog standing outside one of its holes about 150 yrds out .. I took aim and let two shots fly .. To my amazment the thing started floping around for about 10 seconds then went still .. I walked up to it and found both shots found their mark . One to the head and one just left to center of its heart .

Best is 110 yards(measured), off hand, sunset, & 6x8 target. Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8 barrel(worn out) & my standard .38 Sp handloads. Perfectly clean barrel by Outer's Foalout. 24 shoots & 24 hits. Then the barrel is to leaded to do it.

Next day same thing. Next day same thing. FWIW to those who don't know, at sunrise & sunset the air is the calmest & makes for the easiest shooting.

My buddy and me were out hunting quail and cut through a small woods chasing a covey and I saw a squirrel running down a tree. We were about 50 feet away and I had my S&W 22 pistol on my hip. Pulled the pistol and like an old time gun fighter shot from the hip. I figured I missed , but we walked to the tree and there it was, one shot to the head!

About 20 years ago I made a 325 yard head shot on a Jack rabbit off hand with a Winchester model 94 in 30-30. Paced out the distance.

That was one unlucky Rabbit and pure luck on my part.

I doubt I could even see a rabbit that far away any more.

Sadly no amazing field shots for me. I will take a moment to say a headshot with the Taurus Judge using 45LC on my first outing/first time trying at 30 feet was impressive. Unknown if its my best shot.

Nothing amazing, but my S&W 22a1 5.5 inch barrel will wear out a quarter size bullseye at 15 yards.

With a Winchester model 1890 .22WRF rifle, i put one through both eyes of a pot gut at 50 feet...and didn't kill it.
It was running around trying to find it's hole. Had to go smack it with a rock... :'(
The holes where the eyes had been were filled with blood, so I had beady little blood red "eyeballs" looking at me like it was the gopher from hades...
I stick with body shots now-a-days...

My very first shot with my Taurus Model 94 I shot an apple off a tree in our orchard from 30 yards away. Didn't come close to replicating the shot and realized that I actually would have to have target practice.

I consider hitting the target my best shot..nothing as far as amazing shots go. I did pin a bee to the ground with a homemade matchstick dart when I was a kid, I'd say a good 5' throw...does that count? :embarrassed2:

I was out shooting clays with a buddy of mine ran out of shotgun shells but still had clays so we decided to see what kind of pistolero's we were and see of we could hit 2 clays off the draw, First try I poped both of them out of the sky with my Blackhawk 357. Since then I have wasted boxes of ammo and clays trying to be that cool again and have only hit 2 more clays and never in the same throw.

mostly luck, but I thumbtacked a 4" balloon to a board and shot the thumbtack off the board without hitting to ballon at 80 yrds with my 10/22 (shooting on a table with a bipod) might not be that great but I was really happy, I also shit a 6" balloon one handed with my taurus pt99 from 40 yrds (standing)

I would think passing a 6" balloon might require BOTH hands to spread your cheeks far enough?
I'm just trying to figure out how the gun was involved, and why it was 40 yards away?
