Everyone is having trouble getting primers right now, particularly small pistol and small rifle.

I heard that there are, basically, only 3 major manufacturers of primers, two of which are in Europe (one in Germany). And the European ones were all shut down for an expended COVID period. Only just now coming back online. Expected to ship the first major shipments to the U.S. some time in October.

Probably most of those will go to actually ammo manufacturers. Handloaders probably won't be able to find them until December, or maybe next year.

When the primers start getting shipped again will it push the cost of ammunition down at all you think? I hope so. But I do not believe we will see the price dropping on ammo until beyond December 2020.

I have an unopened case of 5000 Berdan Primers made by Tula for the Russian 7.62x39 or 7.62x54. No use for them any longer if anyone near here may be interested.

I know where about 8,000 primers are.
No, they aren't for sale.
I know a spot that has few more. The bastard won't sell them either.

May be time to go back to flint lock and match lock

Ample supplies of primers, bullets, lead for casting and Holy Black. Nothing wrong with flint for hunting and, to miss quote the movie, "I love the smell of black powder in the morning. It smells like....History!"

I'm willing to let loose a few, whatdaya need
Thanks, I have a thousand and am looking for a few thousand more. Just getting into reloading now so I'm really not in super dire need right at this point.

I do have a local friend who would help me out (and will do so with his knowledge as I get the press up and running)

Utah is closer than AK and Ajole's stash of 8000 is just to enticing to not comment on.

Well, I am getting ready to PCS and the Army doesn't like to ship all of my primers and powders. Just trying to help out a fellow Gun Nut

That's what I did. When the last shortages and runs started: I switched to BP for my fun shooting. I assure you that a brace of .44 or .36 BP Revolvers would slow down a home invader. Less paperwork too, buy them on line and I think that you can own them in most jurisdictions...even by people with "coloured pasts-IE felons".

I understand disarming most of them but everyone has the right to self defense and those that have changed (like my brother) their ways, I am okay with them getting the privilege back.

Obviously it is not a "right". Otherwise, it could not be taken from you. That "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" thing has morphed into privileges.

Some state and local laws include BP guns as prohibited weapons for felons. Check your local.
