Which firearm is the replica?

2328 Views 59 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  backbencher
Monson (MA) police investigators developed information that methamphetamine was being distributed from a residence and on January 25th, officers executed a search warrant at the suspects’ address. Multiple items including suspected methamphetamine, three firearms (two of which had defaced serial numbers), a replica firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition were seized.

I see a Glock (#1), a Walther P38 (#4), a Lorcin L22 (#3), and I'm guessing #2 is the "replica".
Oh, and the AR mags must go to an -invisible- ghost gun.

I think 2 is the fake. The muzzle looks like the orange threaded barrel piece is broken off. Also no slide serrations, the slide looks like discolored plastic.

The mag on the top left looks like it's either empty and I'm seeing the follower sticking up there, or like it's an oddball follower made for those plastic bbs.

I could be wrong. I've never owned any of those.
My kid used to have a bb pistol that was some sort of sig replica- I forget which. Really convincing from afar.

Also now that I think of it number 2 appears to have a grip cover or enhancement, idk why someone would bother with that on a toy gun unless they were trying to make it look more real.

And as stated already by others, idk why they would make a fake lorcin so I don't think that is fake. Plus they already look like they're made in a hot wheel factory. Maybe someone reporting who doesn't know better just thought that one looked fake?

Is that not a .22 LR mag in the lower right-hand corner, non-matching, but might work if held in place?
I'm with Ajole on this. At first glance the lighting make it look like .22LR, but a second look at images of a P38 mag convinced me it was 9mm. And... it's difficult to find a non-Lorcin magazine that will fit inside the magwell of a Lorcin L22. I've tried.
Who would make a replica of a Lorcin?
Exactly.

oh, c'mon. Hot Wheels look WAY better.

No….guys. That’s a P38 mag in the bottom top right corner. And those are 9 mm….and now you know why the .45 guys laugh at 9 mm.😂
Seriously. I own a P38, and that’s what the gun uses. The front sight looks like it’s been broken or filed off. But that’s what the base looks like.
I don’t think gun three is a replica, I think it’s a POS. To me, gun #2 looks fake. Look at the muzzle.
Here’s a P38 mag….
Fair enough. It looked to me like a .22 mag b/c it looks like an indentation on the front side of the mag, but I guess that's just the light reflecting off the curve. What are the magazines just to the left of that one, then?

#2 looks like a P80 to me w/ a stainless aftermarket slide, I don't think there is a replica gun here, I think you have a police department not fully versed in the English language.

ETA: The far lower right mag definitely has a line btwn the front curve of the mag & the body, and the rounds look smaller than the ones in the mags to the left of it.

1911 single stacks. No gun...makes you wonder, right? But we aren't seeing the AR either.;)

That is completeley within the realm of possibilities. I recently was talking to an old retired guy that was the boss for the state troopers in NE Utah over a decade back now....and he literally told me, he didn't realize that suppressors were legal. They may not know the difference between an 80% and a fake gun.

Yes, I agree. They look like 1911 mags with 45 ACP in it.(y)
Why does the muzzle look like it does?
I think they broke something off a fake gun.
But the low res picture is leading a lot of us to guess about a lot of things.;)

Or their wording is just screwed up... P80 is "technically" a glock replica... lol

If we're talking about the P80, it looks like the slide is not fully in battery & the muzzle is just peeking out. Maybe the recoil spring isn't seated properly, or is missing all together, or got put in backwards, or there's a .38 Super round stuck in the chamber...

I forgot to address this one...the Walther mags had that line, some of the aftermarket mags don't, but some do, as do the later P1 mags.

Occams razor....it's a replica/80% with an extended beavertail.
I'm still confused about this line on the mag in the far lower right. I zoomed in as far as I could go and took a screenshot:

We have a sinister in the house, already got him a Walther Model 4, but it needs some work, eventually want to get him a P-38 or a P-1.

They eject pretty much straight up, so that should be almost as lefty friendly as the 4.:D
Better than slinging them across his face. I just want to get him the most lefty-friendly guns out there. So far, I built him a left-eject AR-22, but the Stag chamber adapter eventually cracked. I have a bolt carrier & receiver from Stag waiting for me to install a mid-gas pencil for him. The Walther 4 doesn't yet work. The revolvers all work - a Arminius .22 LR that was my grandfathers, a Dan Wesson .357, a S&W M&P Bodyguard, & a Charter Arms Southpaw. Wanting to get him a Ruger Target left-eject 10/22 & a Beretta Cx4, maybe a JRC.

Savage does left handed bolt 22's and rifles, and BCA did left side charging/ejecting AR uppers. I have three of the right side units, one older, two new gen, and they work great. Not that the AR needs to eject left, but....it would be nice.

Browing BPS and Ithaca 37 eject shotgun shells downwards, as do a few of the Browning .22's. Not cheap of course. A few modern bullpups also let you choose sides.

Yes, I'm waiting for a modern bullpup to be involved in a conflict on both sides, that's the one I want. 😜

Nah, I was referencing the P-38. The muzzle looks like the aftermath of doing something to get rid of an orange tip like you'd see on an airsoft gun. Do regular P-38 muzzles look line that?

ajole can answer better, but looking @ DDG image search it looks as if the front sight is mounted on a ring pressed onto the bbl.
