Well I finally got my C9 broken in just the way I liked it, and it broke. I had a small rectangular separation around the firing pin, was causing bent strikers and very light primer strikes. Has anyone else had that happen? I have only put close to 7500 rounds through it. I am a caster and reloader, and its one of my favorites to shoot, so it gets a workout. I already sent it in, just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

"Only close to 7500 rounds...." Thru a $150 gun and something finally wore out. I don't see a problem. Especially since it will be repaired for free.

Right. I've seen some $350+ guns broken in 4-5k rounds so I think the C9 performed admirably.

It wasn't built for competition use so a 7,500 round lifespan is excellent in my eyes.

  4. I agree. 150 bucks for close to 10,000 rounds and fixed for free. Can't beat that. When it comes back it will be ready for some more

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I love my C9, and believe it held up great. I know that is a bunch of rounds through an "inexpensive" handgun. I am curious to see if anyone has had the same thing happen though. I have nothing but respect for Hipoint, like I said, its one of my favorites to shoot.

I have just fired 5200 rounds in my C9 since I bought it used in August 2011 and it is still putting the rounds where I point it!

    I love my C9!

No problems so far other than replacing the part that locks the slide back.

    On a serious note...
About 2-3 years ago we had several reporting cracked firing channels or cracking in the slide.
So a small chunk breaking off around the pin wouldn't surprise me.
If anybody can dig up the pictures?

Yup, that's exactly what happened to mine. I probably got so many rounds out of it because I mostly shoot light, cast loads.

  11. All8up, I'd be interested in having a copy of your most accurate 9mm load recipes, as I almost exclusively use cast bullets in my 9 Hi Points. It would save me some powder and components, not to mention legwork and valuable time!

I cast my own boolits. My favorites in 9mm are lee 125gr rn and lee 105gr swc. I size the swc to 357 and shoot the rn as cast. My c9 has an oversized barrel and leads horribly if I shoot a 356 lead boolit. Still interested in loads? Can I post load data on here?

Props to Fred for posting his email and to All8Up for checking BEFORE Posting load data.
IMO, the perFecta from Wally's World is likely a great
plinking and target round. It is noticeably lighter than the WWB I used in the
same mag. Loaded 5 rounds of the WWB then 5 perFecta and
the WWB was clearly hotter, and it is known to be on the mild side...

Got my C9 back from Strassells today, they said they stripped it to the frame and completely rebuilt it, but I am not so sure they didn't give me a new pistol with a reprint of my serial number. Either way, I am super happy. Great customer service and I have my favorite pistol back!
