If anyone has a Yugo SKS (put up) be sure to check it for rust in the barrel . The bore is not chrome lined and will rust if not kept oiled , also check the gas piston . Don't oil too much here though.

That's why I don't have a Yugo SKS. I've all other types. The lack of a chrome lined barrel is a major drawback. The Yugos tended to produce/use corrosive ammo for their SKSs. Another reason they often have rusty barrels. I'm sure there are many fine unrusty Yugos out there and the quality of their stocks is second to none. I often buy their stocks and use them on Chinese SKSs. They really dress a Chinese rifle up.

My Yugo SKS has been used an abused. Worn down to bare metal, stock nicked and carved, bent tip on the bayo, and a gouge in the grenade launcher. But the bore is clean with strong rifling and it shoots great. I guess you just roll the dice every time you buy one.
