Especially since I already own a JHP .45 ACP pistol.

Wisdom says go with the .45 ACP Carbine for ammunition commonality.

Desire wants the 10mm for the improved ballistics.

Thoughts?

I had a Hi-point 10mm, sold it now I am looking for a .45 ACP. Ammo is more available and less costly. I still have a 40, S&W My favorite.

What are you planning to do with the firearm? In my experience .45 Auto is not really accurate beyond about 60 yards because of bullet drop. (Perhaps I am not skilled enough with shooting .45 Auto from a long gun.) With the right loads of 10 millimeter (a lot of manufacturers do not put enough gun powder in them) you will have about a 120 yard effective range with the 1095TS Hi Point Carbine.
agreed that's why I like my 995 9mm carbine

Get the 10mm, I got rid of all my Foughtys a few years back and never regretted it. 10mm all the way, Baby! I have several handguns in the caliber. I have an extensive ammo cache, it's not that expensive any more, compared to 40. There are some great choices around 38 to 52 cents per round. I have posted about these before.

I own the .45 and shoot +p Underwood through it...and I shoot Underwood through my 1095 carbine. The .45 is extremely heavy wears on ya after shooting for a while. The 1095 was my favorite gun to shoot almost right away. I put a handgrip on the front with a light, got a red dot for the sight and it will drive tacks wherever the dot lands with very little recoil and a predictable trigger. Not a great trigger, but predictable. When I bought the TT33C in 7.25X25 it became a close second if not a tie for my favorite thing to shoot. The 1095 is perfect for deer hunting in Arkansas where 100 yards is about the most clear shot you'll get. A great brush gun. That's my .02.

Since carbines are fairly inexpensive get the 45 for defensive and self defense, carry all rounds at one time - then buy 10 mm for playing around!

Has any owner of both the 1095TS and one of the other HP carbines noticed signs of accelerated wear with the 1095 over the first 2K, 4K, 8K or more rounds?

I own just the 995TS so I'm asking strictly out of morbid curiosity. After researching it I haven't heard of any signs of faster wear, but wonder if someone has seen any first hand evidence of it?

Already have 3 other 9's, so I got a 995TS, just get all my 9mm in bulk. I have a 1911, and already thinking about getting a .45 carbine to complement it.

GI issue 1911's are "sloppy"; however, an accurized one is spot on. 45's are designed for close-in work - and have been used in combat for just that. If it's for personal defense, the damage a .45 ACP round wreaks is worth in gold. Having shot on a Navy pistol team for a number of years, as well as in NRA competitions, a .45 ACP has always been a mainstay in my gun box. The fewer varieties of ammo you have to keep in stock, the better spent your $$....IMHO

The .45 carbine with the mag adapter allowing use of standard 1911 mags makes a huge difference. I obtained a 50 round 1911 drum and that with extended 1911 stick mags makes the Hi-Point a serious complement to the pistol

Im torn between the .40 S&W and .45 ACP. I already have a 9mm PCC. .40 is cheaper ammo than .45. .40 I would imagine have less drop at distance. But I kindve want the .45. Ammo is much more common than 10mm and cheaper than 10mm. For that reason ive ruled out the 10mm. Most cheap 10mm factory loads are not much more than .40 S&W loads.

Even better than a 10mm would be a .45 caliber round that shot a 230 grain bullet at 10mm or 9mm velocities (~1200 fps). I guess that would be .45 Super. Dont know if the .45 ACP model carbine would be capable of handling a .45 Super. But that would be a game changer. That and adapting to 1911 mags. .45 Super is probably more than +P though...more like +P++

People have tried it. One has gone as far as reaming out the chamber to ".460 Rowland" specs and shooting .45 Supers. That one person went off the deep end and deleted all info relating to the. 460 rowland conversion though. But another here I think have done .45 Super without much modifications?
