Sounds great to me. I'd prefer a Savage 99, but they will run lots more cash...at the $250 or so range, I'd jump on it regardless.

 

Savage 99s are insane of late. i saw one go at a an auction for over 1500$ a couple weeks ago.

That's the truth... :'(
But they are incredibly well engineered guns, the modern large bore Marlin lever actions and Browning BLR's are the closest thing to them, and they are 70-80 years newer.

 

99s are perfect for lefties as well as they are totally ambidextrous compared even to a BLR or marlin. my original 336 is as close as it gets as ther is no "handed" controls like the later models had.

Lever guns are great. In New England, $250 would be a great deal for a decent 30-30. Hurry, go get it 8)

I have the savage 1899 in .22 Savage Hi Power but only take it out once a year for a couple of rounds. I think I've put less then a box through it in 7 years.

 

That .22 HP is one of the hardest to find. If it is decent shape, its worth a LOAD of money to someone...
