Accurate to a 100 yards from what I have read.....I dont have a scope so I never do more then 50

well lets cover it again .


i can shoot at a descent rate and keep my groups within a 8'' circle 10 out of 10 times with the iron sights. but i try to just do combat accurate. not really trying to use a 9mm as a sniper rifle.

 

Yep, a 9mm doesn't make a good sniper rifle.

What's the point of "killing" paper at 800 yards? Yet people do it.

 

100 yds is not a problem for the 995, though 16x multiplication may be overkill. I have used a simple 4x scope as well as an old aimpoint 1x red dot. My groups were hurting a bit with the 4x, but that was also before I figured out that my muzzle brake needed drilling out (shaving jackets). After that, using the aimpoint red dot by then, I can put 50 rounds downrange and get them all to stay within the 5 1/2 inch target at 100 yards. I don't have regular access to anything longer than 100 yards, and can't see any reason to want a 9mm carbine to reach further than that...but it is comforting to know that I can hit what I am shooting at out that far.

 

My 995 has shot sub 4" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with iron sights and 3 shots in a 1" square @ 25 and 40 yards consistently with Federal Champion 115gr FMJ from Walmart.

I have also shot 5 and 10 shot groups too. The groups tend to open up a bit once the barrel gets hot. YMMV and greatly depends of who is squeezing the trigger.

The 995 is not a surgical scalpel @ 100 yards. I have those types of centerfire rifles too. And they definitely didn't cost $209 + tax NIB from Cabela's. Though I have gotten some nice used 30-06 rifles for a little more.

BTW my Keltec sub 2K or my Beretta Storm both shot not quite as good of groups with irons at the same distances. Hence why I have a 995 and 995TS. And sold the other two. Spending more money for worse accuracy doesn't make sense to me.

Exactly why I want to know if the carbine will do it-consistency, and measuring my skill doing something this gun really wasn't designed for.

Just finished installing the new HP conversion stock on my classic 995 as well as a red dot. I'll see what I can do with a spotting scope and this combo (my eyes aren't what they used to be-haha)

clay pigeons at 100 yds. from a rest with factory open sights is pretty common for my 995 camo monkey gun.

 

Actually went to the range this past Wednesday. Shot at 100m and my 995 was dead on. Moved it to 200m and shot at an E type target and one shot was hi left another shot was low right. And one was in the Wooden stake. I shot ten times and only 3 hit. It's all over the place at 200. So I would stick to 100m

i've streached mine out to 200 yd; not too consistent. an excellent, 100 yd max weapon.

here ya go !!!! .... top l/hand corner of bulleseye , that's a 1" grouping of 5 rds and the bulleseye is 2.5 inches in dia . Was using my friends 995TS with a NC Star 7x32 tactical scope @ a 100 yrd taget

Wow... really, you're going to say that with a hundred holes on that paper the the 5 in the center are one group?

For the record, I do believe that 6" target was shot at 100 yards. Being that there are several shots outside the 6" ring, that makes it a 8+/- MOA group.

most of those holes on the outside of the bulleseye are from a C9

 

Accuracy is such a relative term. See, I consider this relatively accurate, especially for a cold windy March day, off the hood of my truck. 100 yards, 20 shots, with 9 of them touching.



And this was from a contest we had here on the forum. Ten yards, two shots at each bull for score, one shot at each dot for bonus. Again, relatively accurate.



I shot my 995TS until I wore it out and factory rebuilt. Never did I get better than 5 shot 3" groups at 100 yards with any of the various sight combinations I tried.

In all honestly whoever uses their carbine past 100 yards is wasting time and ammo. These things are amazing and deadly accurate with irons, red dot, or scope standing to 50 yards. Anything 50-100 yards standing takes more range time and skill something some do and some don't have for various reasons.

Now if you are on a bench or prone 100 yards with the above mentioned you should easily hit an 8" target. But your grouping is another thing. Personally my .45 carbine is not a reach out a touch you home defense or hunting gun. I do fell confident that it can reach the target, but at the lost of velocity and penetration on the .45's would be pretty significant. If I need cheap distance I will go to my Ruger 10/22. If I need to penetrate and destroy said target the sky is the limit with my .30-30 lever action, .30-06 bolt action, or an AR.

I love my Carbine like 99% of the people do on here I just don't see why people are making a big stink at 100 yard targets and their groupings.

 

my monkey style 995 camo aka. "The Reptile", is a fine shooter as long as you figger on shooting it in the .22 rifle distance range. to try to make it a high range sniper rifle is ridiculous. to me it is an intermediate between a hand gun and a high velocity centerfire rifle. .22 distance effective accuracy range with MUCH more power and energy than a .22.

 

With my knock off EOTech, I can ping the crap out my 10 inch steel plate. Cheap gun, cheap sight, cheap ammo (it was when I bought it), cheap smile. Everyone loves shooting it at the range, ladies especially.

Likely due to the ammo more than the weapon.
IMO hand reloads and a PCC would do better at longer ranges. You know, like competition shooting reloads.
